There is nothing quite like crisp mountain air and the crunch of new snow under your ski boot. Snuggling on the lift with your sweetheart on Valentine’s Day.

It is so much fun, in fact, that the FAA has to tightly schedule arrivals and departures at ski country airports during the middle of February, due to the large number of travelers. In order to accommodate the large number of private aircraft that want to use those airports, the FAA imposes slots – 10-minute takeoff and landing windows – at six of the most popular skiing destinations.

While slots ensure that these airports can efficiently handle the maximum number of aircraft, they do require additional planning. The FAA allows operators to schedule a slot 72 hours in advance, and typically they are reserved the moment they become available. Once a slot is obtained, the aircraft must land within that window or lose the landing privilege. Then a new slot must be obtained, or alternative landing arrangements made.

Your Owner Services representative will work to ensure a seamless trip to your favorite ski destination. If you have any questions about slots and trip scheduling, please call 1-800-FLEX123 (353-9123).
