Demonstrating extraordinary generosity, the patrons and sponsors at the 2009 TWO x TWO for AIDS and Art benefit in Dallas raised more than $4.1 million for the Dallas Museum of Art and amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. In its 11-year history, this gala and contemporary art auction has raised more than $25 million and has become one of Dallas’ most beloved philanthropic events. At an elegant Flexjet-sponsored brunch wrapping up a week of festivities and serious art appreciation, artist Peter Doig was presented with amfAR’s Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS.
Howard and Cindy Rachofsky, hosts of TWO x TWO and Flexjet clients, were instrumental in establishing this unique fundraiser and developing it into one of the country’s most successful philanthropic ventures. They graciously host the TWO x TWO gala each year at their stunning Richard Meier-designed Rachofsky House. Several years ago the Rachofskys, along with Dallas collectors Marguerite and Robert Hoffman and Deedie and Rusty Rose, made history when they together donated their exceptional contemporary art collections, and also The Rachofsky House, to the Dallas Museum of Art. The Rachofsky House continues to serve as an incomparable gallery and center for art education – and, once a year, the setting for this unforgettable fundraiser.
