Among the many advantages of private jet travel, you bypass crowded public air terminals and the countless health hazards they represent. Still, when you are traveling, it is always a good idea to be aware of current public health issues and adjust your plans accordingly. One of the best, most reliable sources for health trends and advisories is the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. The CDC website (www.cdc.gov) provides a wealth of information about travel health issues. It is well-organized and easy to navigate, and worth checking before you travel to an unfamiliar location, whether at home or abroad.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
Those who frequently travel internationally undoubtedly have these processes worked out, but for those who travel less outside U.S. borders or who are traveling to an unfamiliar location, here are a few reminders on basic requirements.

Certificate of Vaccination. Certain countries require a separate certificate for each passenger, regardless of age. Requirements vary from one country to another. Your physician can provide guidance, and the CDC website contains country-specific information. The most important thing to remember is that it can take several weeks for certain vaccinations to become effective, so it is important to plan ahead.

Prescription Medication. We can become so used to carrying our medications we hardly think about them. When traveling abroad, it is important to carry those medications in their original prescription containers, along with your prescription or a letter from your physician, and bring only a reasonable amount for the length of your trip.

ONBOARD MEDICAL EVENTS
Should a medical incident occur on your aircraft, it is reassuring to remember that every Flexjet crew member is fully trained and annually recertified by the American Red Cross to perform adult CPR and first aid. Every aircraft carries a well-equipped first aid kit, and Challenger aircraft carry emergency medical kits, including an Automated External Defibrillator. And, of course, you have 24/7 access anywhere around the globe to MedLink Worldwide’s board-certified emergency physicians and specialists.
