A MEMORABLE WEEKEND IN DEAUVILLE FOR FLEXJET OWNERS

The Deauville-La Touques flat race season is in full swing and, perfectly placed within it, is one of the equestrian calendar’s most distinguished racehorse auctions, The August Yearling Sale. With Flexjet the official event partner of sale organisers Arqana, our Owners enjoyed a ringside seat and a memorable weekend of hippic and gastronomic experiences.
Set against a backdrop of beautiful coastal scenery in Normandy, France, the sale took place over the long weekend of 13th – 15th August. An elite crowd of bloodstock vendors and buyers gathered from all over the world, to see the cream of Europe’s yearlings on display at the sale and parade ground, adjacent to the racecourse.
The festivities opened in fine style, with Owners joining the Flexjet team at the glittering, invitation-only pre-sale party on the Friday evening, co-hosted by the Aga Khan.
Then began the three-day sale itself with the series of exciting auctions in the ring, punctuated by opportunities to enjoy drinks at the Flexjet-sponsored cocktail bar and some memorable gastronomy – including a private hosted brunch with Michelin-starred chef Anne Sophie Pic.
The sale action unfolded in the early evenings, with 80+ exceptional yearlings going under the hammer each day. Demand was strong, with young racehorses changing hands for large six-figure sums, and the most sought-after for much more.
The biggest buyers spending €500,000 or more were presented with a magnum of Ruinart champagne by the Flexjet team. Notable headline sales included €2.1 million from Japanese trainer Yoshito Yahagi, for a colt with an exceptional pedigree, being the brother of Prix de l‘Arc de Triomphe winner Sottsass, and son of leading sire Siyouni and Starlet’s Sister.
On the Sunday and Monday, Flexjet Owners were also able to enjoy the racing at Deauville-La Touques racetrack, along with private hosted evening dinners with the Flexjet team.

Such a special weekend was matched by a memorable travel experience, with Owners able to fly directly into nearby Deauville-Saint-Gatien Airport (LFRG) on the Flexjet fleet, including the super-midsize Praetor 600.
